Many people know Dharavi as “one of the biggest slums in Asia”, but we prefer to think of it as the beating heart of Mumbai. About one million Mumbai residents live here and the industry generates an annual turnover of around 665 million US dollars.
On our educational tour you will learn about a wide range of these industries: Recycling, pottery, embroidery, bakery, soap factory, leather tanning, poppadom making and much more.
We will also visit the residential areas of Dharavi. People from all over India have settled in Dharavi, making it a microcosm of India. This diversity is evident in the temples, mosques, churches and pagodas that stand side by side.
